Grimethorpe Colliery Band - DANIEL ROBSON - SOLO CORNET

Daniel started to play the cornet at the Salvation Army under the Band Leader Ian Robson, his Father. Dan was principle cornet of the Tees Valley Youth Band and Egglescliffe School Band.

When Daniel was 18 is went to Birmingham Conservatoire to study cornet under Ian Porthouse and Richard Marshall. While at college Daniel won the prestigious Alfred Corfield Trumpet Price in 2007, as a cornet student he decided to stay and do a Postgraduate solely on the Trumpet studying with Andrew-Stone-Fewings (RSC), Alan Thomas (CBSO), John Holland (CBSO) many more visiting specials including James Watson and Rex.

When Daniel got to Birmingham Daniel joined the Jaguar Band before moving to Desford Colliery Band. In 2011 Daniel was very pleased to have been given the opportunity to join the Grimethorpe Colliery Band as an associate player as his busy freelance trumpet career doesn't let him commit to the band 100%.
Daniel have played with the Salvation Army International Staff Band and as well as holding the position of Principal Cornet for The Household Troops Band.
Daniels employment is both teaching and performing on the freelance circuit, From June 2008 to date he has been regularly working as a musician for the Royal Shakespeare Company based in Stratford-Upon-Avon.

Daniel has played at the BBC Proms, played on Blue Peter and in a backing band for Sir Cliff Richards and Kate Rusby to name a few.
Performing has given Daniel the opportunity to travel to America, Norway, Canada, Amsterdam, Australia as well as all over the British Isles and I am so pleased to come to Australia again with Grimethorpe.

In his spare time Daniel loves his football team Newcastle United and playing golf.
