ANDY LOCKETT
Andy commenced his playing career playing percussion and brass at school under Iain Forgreive and Mike Wildgust. He started to play in Brass Bands at the age of 14 with the Todmorden Band. Andy then went on to play for Flixton and Longridge before making the move across the Lancs/Yorks border in 2007 to the Hepworth Cookson Homes Band. Andy played at all of the major contests that year with the band with the highlight being involved with Hepworth's first ever invitation to the National Finals at the Royal Albert Hall, London.
A year later, Andy was approached by the world famous Grimethorpe Colliery Band to fill their vacancy on tuned percussion, and just before the 2008 Brass In Concert Championships, Andy signed for Grimethorpe, fulfilling a childhood dream.
Andy has worked as a Peripatetic Music teacher in Bolton and is off in September 2011 to Leeds Metropolitan University to train to become a classroom Teacher.
To date his banding highlights are winning the 2010 Brass in Concert Championships with the Grimethorpe, playing cornet at the late Pete Postlewaites memorial service in London and also playing at the Royal Albert Hall with Hepworth in 2007.
