Alan started playing the cornet at 8 years of age with the Desford Colliery Youth Band. At the age of 12, he joined his first championship section band, the William Davis Construction Band. Matthew started playing the cornet at the age of 7 and played with local bands Hepworth and Marsden before joining the Brighouse and Rastrick band on repiano cornet at the age of 18.

MICHAEL CAVANAGH SOLO BARITONE

Born in 1994, Michael Cavanagh is from Stockport and began playing the Baritone at the age of 8. Nick hails from Saddleworth and learnt to play at Dobcross Youth Band. After spells with Boarshurst and Dobcross Silver he joined Todmorden Band where he was part of the bands rise through the sectionsculminating in winning the Grand Shield.

CHRIS GOMERSALL SOLO TROMBONE

Chris started playing in the Salvation Army and Westoe Colliery Band aged seven.  By the age of twelve he had joined the Newcastle Brown Ale Band and the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain, winning the first of three Katie Ogden Trombone solo awards.  Chris was appointed Principal Trombone in the NYBBGB aged 14.
